5TH GRADE: ARTS
1. COLLAGE
With cut-outs from coloured paper, magazines, newspapers, etc., make a composition of yourself doing an activity you feel like doing or that you enjoy. You can include hobbies, things you like, or things you are discovering. You can also add a photo of yourself.
You can get inspired by Matisse’s paintings:
EXAMPLES
🎨 Henri Matisse (1869–1954) was a French artist.
-
He is famous for using bright colors and simple shapes.
-
He was one of the leaders of a style called Fauvism, which means “wild beasts,” because the artists used strong and unusual colors.
-
Later in his life, when he couldn’t paint easily, he started making cut-outs with colored paper. He called this technique “painting with scissors.”
-
His artworks often show plants, animals, people, and patterns in a joyful way.
